Jody Calkins is a writer and editor based on the plains of Northern Colorado. While she writes and edits all types of marketing and business communications materials, she especially loves working on articles and case studies that reflect her clients' professionalism and unique capabilities.
Her favorite part is talking with clients and subject matter experts to learn how things work and how her clients have impacted their customers' businesses.
Where it all began…

Okay, we won't go into that much detail. She'll tell you her niceness is the result of her Minnesotan roots, but you'd never guess that's where she's from. She lost her 17-year northern accent somewhere along the road to Colorado about the time people started stocking up for Y2K.
Jody grew up reading Beverly Cleary and Lucy Maud Montgomery, and she followed her interest in writing at the age of 16 when she took a creative writing course with the Institute of Children's Literature. She holds a B.A. in Classics from University of Colorado at Boulder where she studied Latin, and ancient Roman and Greek literature, history, philosophy, architecture, and archaeology.
She launched Emery Road Writing Services, LLC in May 2007 and went full-time in January 2008.
Not surprisingly, Jody is crazy about grammar, spelling, and consistency, and never goes a day without spotting something she'd fix. Where did she get this neurotic tendency toward all things grammar and language? She's not sure. But her clients are okay with not knowing either. Give them professional copy they love and they're happy.
