Grammar Series, No. 6: Hope or Hopefully?
by Jody Calkins on June 25, 2010
Is it "hope" or "hopefully"?
- "Hope" as a verb means "to wish", as in "We hope our roosters will continue to keep predators away."
- "Hopefully" means "full of hope" or "in a hopeful manner", as in "The rooster danced around a hen and ruffled his wing hopefully."
